Bible Verse: “This is the basis for judgment: The light came into the world, and people loved darkness more than the light, for their actions are evil. All who do wicked things hate the light and don’t come to the light for fear that their actions will be exposed to the light. Whoever does the truth comes to the light so that it can be seen that their actions were done in God.” - John 3:19-21

Reflection:

Who loves darkness more than light? We're not talking about preferring to sit in a darkened room, verses wide open shades. No, this verse claims that people love the darkness of evil, injustice, and oppression. That's not me...or is it?

Lent is a season, as the verse says, "to come into the light." Through prayer God will shine a light on those dark parts in our heart and lives. We find the truth we seek as we allow the light of Christ to illuminate our hearts. Then, forgiveness and healing are right around the corner.
