Bible Verse: Even before a word is on my tongue, O LORD, you know it completely. Psalm 139:4

If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

Reflection:

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.” (Mother Teresa)

I am a person that is often uncomfortable in silence. I will fill the void with unnecessary and even useless words. Today we are reminded that God already knows what we want to say, even the things we probably shouldn’t.

Lent is a time of reflection, a time to not speak but to listen. Lent is a time to wait for the words that God wants to hear. And then speak them in love.
