No Service on Sun. Dec. 29th
To give our volunteers and staff time to rest, there will be no church service on Sunday, December 29. Regular Sunday services will resume on January 5, 2025. We look forward to starting the new year with you!
Bible Verse: 17 They got into a boat and were crossing the lake to Capernaum. It was already getting dark and Jesus hadn’t come to them yet. 18 The water was getting rough because a strong wind was blowing. 19 When the wind had driven them out for about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the water. He was approaching the boat and they were afraid. 20 He said to them, “I Am. Don’t be afraid.” John 6:17-20
Reflection: Amazing: (adj) causing great wonder; astonishing
We use the word “amazing” so casually in our daily language that it possibly has lost the power of its meaning. But Jesus walking on water is nothing short of just that: amazing. The Disciples were in serious trouble and Jesus did something we would think was impossible. But not to Jesus. And then the words that then came out of Jesus’ mouth once he reached the Disciples were, “do not be afraid.” I read that and a part of me reads it with reverence and sees this great goal I’d love to reach but then I reread it and honestly, I laugh out loud…another impossibility. It would be amazing to not be afraid. Spiders. Cancer. Car wreck. These are all things that scare me, and I lose sight of the hope Jesus provides. So, I go back and reread verses 19-21 and take note of the journey the Disciples experienced in those brief verses: fear, acceptance of Jesus, rescue.Contributor: Crystal Holic
