Bible Verse: Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.  John 6:35

Reflection: Just as we need bread and water literally to survive, we need Jesus to survive as well. His salvation provides nourishment for our soul. We find peace and comfort within him. I remember my mother saying that she was at peace and was not scared as she was being wheeled into surgery for a brain tumor at the base of her spine. The tumor could kill her at any moment. She said she had greater peace that day than she did a couple of weeks before when doctors were doing tests to see if her breast cancer had returned for a second time. I did not understand then how she could have peace at such a life threatening time. I was a wreck that day. As I have drawn closer to Jesus over the years, I too have experienced peace and joy at times that did not make sense logically. Jesus provides us with the essentials at just the right time.
