Bible Verse: Jesus responded to the Jewish leaders, “I assure you that the Son can’t do anything by himself except what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise. John 5:19
Reflection:
I am amazed when I see my daughter do something (especially in the kitchen) exactly like I do it when I know I didn’t formally train her. She just watched me and mimicked my actions. Down to the last detail.
We’ve all seen examples where children “mirror and match” their parents. Some matches are cute, some matches are funny and, sadly, some matches can be ugly and hateful. Everyone needs a point of reference and in this verse Jesus shared with us who his point of reference is. Who is your point of reference? Who do you choose to “mirror and match”? This verse strengthens my resolve to stay in the Bible and do what Jesus would do.
