Bible Verse: On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and shouted,
All who are thirsty should come to me!
All who believe in me should drink!
As the scriptures said concerning me,
Rivers of living water will flow out from within him.” John 7:37-38
Reflection: Come and drink. I love this invitation from Jesus. Imagine being at a festival, it’s hot and you are walking around seeing all booths and people. Your thirsty and desperately want a drink. You want to be refreshed. That’s when Jesus says “Come, I have what you need.”
There are times when I’m not tired and thirsty for a drink from a full day festival, but from life. I get tired and weary and need refreshed. Jesus continues to invite us to “come and drink”. The refreshing feeling from Jesus’s invitation is better than any cold drink on a hot day. Or as I right this from Iowa and 30 degrees: a hot drink on a cold day.
